Hey Mom and Dad,
So this past week wasnt too bad! We had to stay in the apartment for a day...this week i was sick lol. The flu is going around bad in our apartment, fail! I think its because of the weather change thats happening though! Im fine now though. Elder Vernon is definately "Going out in a Blaze of Glory." He's a great example and is determined to finish his mission working hard. This week we somehow struggled seeing investigators. Alot of public holidays this past week, so Nungua was like a Ghost town. Was pretty interesting, but we visited alot of Recent Converts and Less Actives. Weve been working alot with Bishop Karikari in our ward, and getting members to get more involved with the ward mission plan too. Alot of members want to give us referrals, but some just dont know how to share the gospel. So Bishop wants us to go to alot of members houses and teach, get to know them more, and show ways in which they can share the gospel with their friends. The work is going though. I think we will be very busy this upcoming week though. We have plenty of people that weve T'd up to see with members. So it always good and fun to teach with members. Especially when its their friends. There are quite a few people in our ward preparing to go on their mission, so weve been taking them out too. Its been getting alot more hotter here though. Really dusty too. But its pretty good if you want to get a tan lol! The Gha Festivals have died down, so no more parades and riots. Not too much out of the norm has happened though, were just steady teaching and finding. Ive been reading this book written by President Ezra Taft Benson. It's really interesting, and its alot about his testimony of the Book of Mormon and how the teachings in it have helped him throughout his life with different things. I forgot the name, but its really good. Ive almost finished my first read through of the Book of Mormon whilst ive been out. Going to see how many times i can study it before i come home. Its crazy to think what itd be like without it in our lives. How is everything back home though? Are you guys doing Family home evening and scripture reading still lol? I see some of the families here, or when we go to their houses for FHE and it reminds me of home lol! The kids are really cheeky here too. Elder Vernon and I are doing fine though. Getting ready and pumped for another week lol! Vernon is somehow more excited because he finished in a week and a bit though lol! But until next week! Hope you guys have a wonderful week! Send my love to the family and the ward! Love and Miss you's! Elder Fesolai

Good Morning Mom and Dad! Elder Vernon and i have been great. We had to stay back at the apartment a few days this week because Vernon got sick lol! However we still managed to "SEE THE PEOPLE". They really emphasize that out here. Weve been real good though. Elder Vernon and I get along well, and we teach together really well. He goes home in 3 week though so i think he's getting trunky lol. This past week a fetish chief/priest died so there were massive celebrations and parades so we kinda had to stay out of some of our areas. Dudes were firing shotguns and rifles in the air, and people were getting too excited. I managed to snap a selfie infront of the parade though lol! These traditional Ghanaians though with their beliefs though, it gets somewhat really busy and wild in the streets. Saturday just gone though we had the baptisms. It was a great night. Godwin and this lady named Helen were baptised. They asked me to baptise them, so it was a really wonderful experience. I was filled with so much joy seeing how happy they were after they came up out of that water. For us as missionaries seeing their progress and growth in the gospel is just marvelous. Words cant really explain! Godwin was able to recieve the Aaronic Priesthood on Sunday too. Navigating around the ghettos wasnt too bad. We kind of just ride our bikes around the outskirts and lock them up so we can enter the little corner houses. We haven't been getting too lost though. Im becoming really familiar with the area now. Transfers are in 3 weeks so still a bit to go. Hopefully ill get to train. The intake is going to be around 30 missonaries so its gonna be crazy I think President is kinda stressing out with so many missionaries going home next transfer and plenty entering the field. Elder Hatch came back down to Nungua from the bush to see us and go buy some things, so were chilling with him and his companion for the day. The work is going very well though. We got 3 new referrals from members who we are going to teach. Members have been helping alot with the missionary work. Whenever they are free they are ready and willing to come and help us teach. Its always better when they refer people too because that person will already have a friend in the church. On the 10th of October we have 5 candidates who are preparing for baptism so we are working alot with them. Ive only been out for 8 weeks, but it feels like ive learnt so much in this past 8 weeks about the gospel than i have in quite a few years lol! Ive seen how powerful the Atonement is in our investigators lives, but also in my own. We are always relying on the Savior and his Atonement to overcome our weaknesses and become more like him. Im so grateful to be out here serving the Lord! The other day at this members house we ate some strange stuff, they were feeding us sea snails, like the ones we see at the beach...it was different tasting lol! Somehow managed to stomach it though. I think the missionaries out here are blessed with the gift of iron stomachs haha! Alot of things im eating, i dont think i ever would tried back home! Am loving the food though, haven't been sick yet either! Im really looking forward to this upcoming week though. The people weare teaching are great. Ive really adjusted to Nungua and im loving the area so much more every week. Everything is great out here though. Its getting hotter now that the wet season is over. The pictures you sent though were Awesome! I really miss the beach! The beaches here are mostly poluted with rubbish or sewerage...stank! Sounds like you guys are doing well though! Sounds like its the same as when i was still home lol! Our apartment is always loud lol! The Nigerian ELders love to crack jokes and are always super loud, so our apartment is always filled with laughter haha. Its great! Love and Miss you all though, im still waiting for Keanu to email me! Nacho Guy...! Anyway hope you have a great week Mom and Dad! Love you heaps! Elder Fesolai Hey Mom and Dad! So this past week has been quite a jumble lol! Elder Hatch was Emergency Transferred out into the bush this past Wednesday so Ive now got a new trainer. His name is Elder Vernon. He's pretty cool, but is new to the area so its made me step up alot and take the lead. I still dont know the area that well because the houses are just so crammed together! You know there are no individual addresses here. Just town names, or landmark names. So when we find a new investigator, they tell us the landmark they live near, we call them and tell them where we are and we meet up. Then they show us their house lol. But it was quite a shock when Hatch got the news about the transfer! We had the ward movie night on Friday which went well! It was a solid turnout. A bunch of people came and we got some referrals. We will be having some baptisms this upcoming Saturday which should be great. Ill be sure to take some pictures. We have quite a few baptisms coming up on the 10th of October too. Our investigators are doing great too. We had 7 of them come to Church this past Sunday. I had to bless the sacrament again lol. Many of the members show up super late to church in this area which is kinda funny. So we are always asked to pass or bless sacrament. I think i said this last week, but we have a great teaching pool now. Our days are always busy seeing people which is good. We finally got bikes for me and my companion now too lol! So we can get around alot faster. We will be having another ward movie night again soon too where apparently we will be watching FREETOWN. Was it any good? Alot of the members who have seen it said it was pretty awesome. THats awesome that you guys are going to the other gym now though. YOu should see the gyms here haha. They look real sketchy. So the next transfer is in 3 weeks. Ive come to learn though that President Heid doesnt really follow the transfer cycle when it comes to transferring missionaries. Elder Vernon goes home the same time as Hatch too. So ill probably be training for sure. On Thursday we had Zone Conference, so 4 other Zones in the mission combines with us. I saw the Browns too, was good to catch up with them briefly. It was at the MTC in Tema. Was pretty good though, President Heid gave us all some awesome council and instruction. THis week though should be fun though. We get lost quite a bit proselyting because Hatch knew all the secret shortcuts through the clusters of house. WIth him not around its kinda interesting when it comes to navigation. Trying to remember the landmarks and have been talking and contacting alot of people as we ask for directions too lol! I learnt alot from Hatch, but ive also been learning quite alot from my new Comp. He's a real humble guy. He's never trained before so we kinda of just go about the days normally now. Am looking forward to see all the people we have planned to see this week though. Ive really been learning applying some teaching skills ive been trying to improve on. Its always good to have a lesson plan ready, but something Hatch has taught me is to discern what the person needs to hear at that time in particular. It really has helped as its helped the person progress and then accept other teachings and commandments. Seems like Melbz is the same though! How is everyone? Uncle Junior, Aunty Marlene, and Aunty, Nicole, Tina, Lisa, and uncle Dave and everyone? The last 2 months have gone by pretty quickly! Anyway, its awesome to hear from you both! Tell Keanu he is a sad guy for not writing lol! Love and miss you all heaps though! Hope you's have a wonderful week! Love, Elder Fesolai Hey Mom and Dad! So this week has been great. No baptisms, they all were cooridnated to the 19th of sep to combine with the sister missionaires candidates in the ward. But the people we have been teaching have been so solid, keeping committments and making the necessary changes in their lives ay! Im seeing them apply Christ and his Atonement into their lives and it brings joy to see them change! Seeing them grow in Faith and act unto Repentance, its wonderful to see! Weve met some awesome new investigators too who the members have introduces us too. The members really help the work so much. Its great to hear what the people say about members in the ward who have been an example to them and made them interested in the Gospel. The ward mission plan is really emphasised in Nungua ward. Speaking of Church though i blessed sacrament on Sunday too! Felt like i was a priest again...lol! But the Young Men in our ward are super cool, and are really good dudes. Weve been working alot with the auxillary leaders in visiting less actives and seeing referrals. The ward has really opened up with us over the last week! Ive really been trying to improve in my teaching though, and its been improving alot. I think teaching skills are a thing that you learn to gain throughout your whole mission. But you can feel the spirit so strongly in the lessons when were teaching, its just awesome! Weve got our ward movie activity though this Friday. Should be fun! Will be watching Meet the Mormons. Hopefully the members bring some friends. Weve been working with the bishopric and ward mission leader in preparing and organising the event, Weve just been looking for places to print posters and flyers, and it took ages for bishop to approve the budget lol. But i think it will be a good activity. We started teaching this one guy the other week and when we had taught him about the Plan of Salvation and Eternal Families, he was really shocked and happy. Its really a blessing for us to have these restored truths on the earth today. It really shows how Perfect Heavenly Fathers Plan is. I know it is! The guy, his name is Federick was telling us how he never had heard this doctrine before, and hes said that he just knew the church was true. Im looking forward to teaching him this upcoming week though. But Elder hatch has been really teaching me alot of the last weeks. Been making me take the lead on the lessons, which has been a real learning experience. Ive been recognising the spirit when teaching alot mroe and helping those we teach recognise it too. Ive really been trying to take in as much as i can just to prepare in case i get told im training when Hatch go's home! So im pretty excited. But our week has been great. We were able to see alot of people this past week, and see some members too. Were becoming well aquainted with the members of the ward now and its just making the work so much more smooth for us and those coming unto Christ. Its cool too see and hear from our investigators that they loved church or that they really enjoyed what was taught and they tell you about it. Love and miss you guys though! Get Keanu to shoot me some emails lol! I think i sent him one last week. Its cool to hear from that skux guy with his fresh hair cut lol! Anyways hope you guys have a good week. Love and Miss you heaps! P.S. Happy Fathers Day for Yesterday though Dad! Sorry I forgot about it. They don't have it here lol. I'll send you a voodoo doll in the mail from the Juju locals haha! Elder Fesolai Mom and Dad! So i made it through my first transfer! Last week wasnt too bad! Theres going to be alot of changes occurring here over the next month or 2. A bunch of wards are getting split so our boundries are going to change quite significantly. Some missionaries have been reassigned to Sierra Leone and Liberia now that Ebola is under control too. Im pretty confident ill stay in Ghana though! This past week though has been good though! Im really getting into the work and hang of things now though. Ive been trained ahead of schedule because its suspect that ill be training as soon as ive finished training. So Elder Hatch has got me working hard. A bunch of missionaries will be leaving next transfer and even more will be coming in. So i think ill be training and in Nungua ward for quite some time. Our investigators are great though. Theyve been coming to church. Were going to see a few this evening. This lady Nyomi, who weve been teaching is so great. Its been so awesome to see her husband who was less active come back to church. Their family have been coming for the last 4 weeks. It brings so much joy seeing them at Church, and teaching the family. Ive had so many opportunities to give blessings or annointings with Elder Hatch. Alot of members weve visitied have been sick and have asked for blessings. Its super cool to see the faith they have to ask for one. The ward is doing great too. Weve been having PEC almost everyweek and weve built a strong relationship with the bishopric, and auxillery leaders. Our ward mission leader is the man too! Hes names Peter, but hes a super cool guy. Was only just called when i first arrived but he really gives it his all. The members are so great though. Ive really gotten to know alot of them and serve with alot. Weve been doing home teaching with the Elder Quorum members which has been good. Weve been invited to alot of family home evenings which are always fun! Have you guys been having family home evening? Didnt really have too many crazy adventures this week just gone though. There was some crazy Juju (voodoo) stuff going on though. Some crazy stuff with some local nutjobs who are into their voodoo digging up bodies and stuff lol...Crazy! The were a bunch of guys goin around trying to sell footage too..what the heck!? Weirdos haha! Been learning to play hymns though, and reading music. They really encourage missionaries here to learn so we got a bunch of learning resources and one of the Elders has been teaching me. I love the pictures though! Seems like it was an awesome night at the temple! And of course at KFC lol! It looks like Keanu really enjoyed him self! Its super awesome to see him standing at the front of the temple like a skux guy with his haircut lol! The work is going well though. Alot of things i used to find peculiar are now becoming normal to me lol. I dont think its possible to adjust to the pepe in the food. Just when you think youre all good, they turn up the heat in the food big time loL! Been eating alot of fufu and banku though. But yeah, all is well in Nungua! Elder Hatch goes home next transfer, so his countdown has begun lol. Im looking forward to all the changes that are soon to happen though. Should be interesting. Sounds like everything in Melbz is going good! I love all the little quotes and scriptures you send me though! Been marking the scriptures. Love and miss you though Mom and Dad! Send some more pictures, even just random ones of home, or whatever! Im forgetting alot of things haha! Hope yous have a great week though! Love yous! Elder Fesolai |
