Hey Mom and Dad! It's fair to say this past week was for the most part great! Elder Winborg and I have been working really really hard with the Bishopric in reaching out to the Less Actives in the ward. We have also been blessed with some really great people to teach from member referrals! So the start of the week was busy, but Friday and Saturday kind of just went slow! Elder Winborg got pretty sick so he had to rest! He is all good now though! So we have started teaching this guy named Kingsley, who is the husband of a member who has just started coming back to church. And wow, is all I can really say. This guy is just so humble and you can just see that he has been prepared by the Lord to receive the Gospel. We had such a powerful lesson on the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Atonement, and he brought up the topic of Baptism. His faith just blew us away, as he knew that he needed to follow Christ and that would be done by undertaking the first ordinances. Baptism and Receiving the Holy Ghost! What a blessing it is to witness this miracle create this might change of heart in the lives of others. To see Faith and the will to change in a person. The Restored Gospel is so great! Really this whole week has just been full of wonderful spiritual experiences. It's not that other weeks haven't been, but I've been really learning to recognize the promptings and feeling of the Spirit! Something that I'm still learning, but it is so wonderful! I'm so grateful for the opportunity we have to partake of the sacrament every week, to renew our covenants, and to continue to have the companionship of the Holy Ghost! Church yesterday was fun! We are always assigned to bless the sacrament due to lack of Priesthood at the moment, so it feels like I'm a priest again back in Frankston ward haha! Our ward may be small, but these people are so willing and determined to build it and magnify their callings! It was really really amazing to see so many faces of those less actives we visited during the week at church! You could see the happiness in their faces as they were able to partake of the sacrament in who knows how long! Mission life is great though. Really over these last few weeks things have kind of just been I guess clicking Gospel wise lol! Everything is just making sense, and teaching plainly is something that Elder Winborg and I have been striving for! We are both doing well! The heat is rolling back in, which is kind of over bearing sometimes haha! The humidity I think is what is making it bad! But it's all good, time to adjust back to it again! Our water has kind of been off all week aswell, just came back on yesterday to our relief. So we have been fetching it from another compound and surviving of our storage haha! Survivor missionaries right here! Hope you are both well though Mom and Dad! Always remember we can receive help and support from on high in our daily activities from the Lord! That assistance doesn't come by chance by choice! I've really come to see that out here on mission, as we are constantly on our knees praying, studying and living the Gospel and Mission Rules! In our normal lives we can always take small time to study the scriptures, give thanks to Heavenly Father, and do our best to keep the commandments! Until next week though! Love you so much Mom and Dad! Have an amazing week! x Elder Fesolai So I bought some bananas the other day and they were all literally this size, like what the? They're like little fun size mars bars you hand out as lollies in primary or something...I want my money back!
Heres a pic of my eggs that I bought. The struggle of living in apartment with 3 other hungry missionaries can be real...So we kind of mark everything haha And yesterday we were invited to prepare and eat Fufu and one of the members houses yesterday! So I was on pounding duty...I was probably doing a useless job.

Hey Mom and Dad! So what a week it has been! We were blessed to have an awesome mission tour and conference this Tuesday just gone! Elder Terence.M.Vinson from the Quorum of the 70 and his wife came and taught and gave council to the missionaries here! Coincidentally they are from Australia too, so hearing them speak felt like I was back at home again haha! They gave some really really great counsel on obedience and doing all we can as missionaries to 'wholly follow the Lord'! I've really come to recognize and rely on the Holy Ghost out here as Elder Winborg and I strive for exact obedience! You know, we have to be instruments worthy, for our Heavenly Father to use to ensure his work is done! After all this isnt the work of man, but the work of God! Thinking about it, it is such a privilege and blessing to participate in this great work in this part of the Lord's vineyard! It doesnt just apply to us guys wearing the black name tag though! Whether it be for missionary efforts or to just show our love for the Lord, when we wholly follow him, keep his commandments, keep our covenants, the Spirit can always be with us. We need to always the blessings of the constant companion ship of the holy ghost and blessings when we follow our Savior and Father in Heaven! President Heid had me go and greet them though, being another Australian and all so it was pretty awesome to get to talk to Elder Vinson! Got to chat about mission and back home, it was good! My talk went all well too! Ended up speaking on conversion and how we as missionaries can use the Book of Mormon to assist in the process on conversion! So, transfer news was given to us this Saturday just gone! Our transfers happen every 6 weeks and when you are going to a new area you take a cab to the Mission home and usually from there you take a taxi or get dropped by a senior couple to the new area! This is all irrelevant though, because I'm staying in Nungua!!! Yep, So i will have spent my first 9 months in Nungua, and to be honest I couldn't be any happier! Our ward now is really small because of the split and we've been working really closely with the Bishop and his councilors in rekindling that flame in Less actives and helping them come back to the fold! We went over our ward mission plan too, so alot too look forward too! Currently there are about 70 members at sacrament each Sunday! Before the split there were about 200-250! So a dramatic change, but we are now amongst the pioneers of ward 3 haha! We've become really good friends with these people though, so it will be really fun building the ward! So I've been blessed with another 6 weeks as Chief of Nungua haha! More so blessed since I get to spend another 6 weeks with these wonderful people! So I get to keep giving it my all here! The members were happy that the both of us are staying! We have been well though! Mind you I was sick over the week end! Think i got food poisoning which was a fail! Am doing better now though! Elder Winborg has been well. We have some baptisms coming up the end of February! So we have alot to be excited about and look forward too! Cant believe how fast time is going though! 2 more transfers until I'm at the year mark and it's pretty scary! I'm being classified as an old missionary too which is strange! Still feels like it was yesterday I was being trained by Elder Hatch haha! There's always so much we can learn about the Gospel though! Ive been learning to learn something new everyday! Hope you guys are doing great though! It's great to hear the enjoyment in you emails of striving to live the Gospel! Hope you's have a wonderful week though! Keeping you in my prayers! Love you Mom and Dad! xx Elder Fesolai So here are some pics from this past week! Sorry I really have been forgetting to take my camera out so, meh pacho (I beg) forgive me haha!
There are some of the pics of the food from this week. In the poly container is legit what the closest thing to fish and chips I found here haha! Fried yam and fish! Heck yeah! Then theres some Banku and pepe that one of our lovely members gave us to take home and eat! Theres a pic of Elder Osei-Brobbei and I at the conference just gone. So we we actually taught and baptised his Brother In Law who now stays In Nungua! Elder Osei is from Kumasi and his brotherinlaw moved from Kumasi to Nungua for work and wasnt a member! So when he found out he was baptised he was so happy to hear! Hey Mom and Dad! So this past week wasn't too bad at all! Elder Winborg and I kind of at the start of the week walked around our whole new area just to get a feel of where the boundry is and just sus out landmarks and somehow roads that pass through! Navigating here is really like turn left at the mango tree and then right at the traditional house haha! So It's fun getting to know a new area! We really have been focusing our efforts on finding and contacting in this new area though! This always is so fun as we are just meeting new people and getting to share the gospel while we do so! We have been able to find some very interested people who we are following up with this week, so our efforts are paying off! We have a conference tomorrow since one of hte members from the Quorum of the 70 is coming to Ghana. So we have like a Mission tour and the conference is part of it! Lucky me, I got assigned to give a talk at it haha! Should be good though, they want me to talk about conversion, and how as a missionary, I have used the Book of Mormon to help others in their own conversion process! Should be good! Church yesterday was interesting! The ward is so small now, but our new bishopric is awesome! They are all so young! The Lord qualifies those he calls though! Hopefully I get to stay here another transfer to see the ward grow small! The transfer ends this week, so transfer news will be rolling along to us all during the week! So we will see what President has planned for us all! I'm looking forward to seeing all the changes! It was good to catch up with Wilberforce too! He's the younger brother of our used to be Ward mission leader! One of the guys i first befriended here in Nungua when I first arrived! He got his mission call December and left to the MTC on Tuesday just gone! Serving in Nigeria, he'll be an awesome missionary! He would always come proselyting with us, so it was awesome to catch up with him before he left! He went back to his home town the last few months to spend time with his family! Elder Winborg is doing good, and me too! We've got a busy week coming up with alot of people we need to follow up on! All the members keep telling us we got alot of work to do because the ward is small haha! We plan to work with them and see if they dont have any friends that they have shared the gospel with and are willing to refer! All is well in Nungua though! I'm starting to get called the chief of Nungua because of how long I've been here haha! Hope you guys are good though! Love you's! xx Elder Fesolai Pics from this past week!
Wilberforce one of the guys I first met here who was preparing for his mission finally got his call last year and left on Tuesday to enter the MTC in Ghana! He's serving in Nigeria Benin City, so we went and caught up with him and got pizza!!! Some pics of our whole ward, and the Elders quorum and High Priests haha! Some of the foods we ate this past week! Hey Mom and Dad! So this past week has been really good! We were blessed to have another baptism this Saturday just gone! Emmanuela, is the daughter of one of our Recent converts! So that was really exciting for her! She was really happy! This Sunday just gone we had our Ward conference and alot of changes have now taken place! The ward has now split, so there are now 3 wards here in Nungua! Elder Winborg and I are probably going to be serving in the new ward that was created (Ward 3) and so we will be proselyting a fairly new area which will be interesting! It's somehow upsetting as we will no longer be in the area of alot of our investigators and members we usually see! The sisters I think will take over ward 1 now though, so...ah well! During the week we had been going teaching with Godwin though! That was a really cool experience! Seeing one of your Recent Converts come out and do missionary work with you! We were teaching a guy about the Book of Mormon and then Godwin starts sharing his testimony of it which was really powerful! Us missionaries can use the spirit to work in the people, but I really think it works much more strongly when there is just someone the person can relate to! So we are lookign forward to teaching with him again this week! We sung in the choir though this Sunday. Sounded pretty mean! The ward was pretty happy since a bunch of people started joining over the last few weeks so we had a bunch of voices and it turned out awesome! Looking forward to the upcoming week though! Definately alot of challenged ahead with finding new people to teach, but it will be fun learning new areas and contacting! I know the spirit will guide us where to go and what to say! We are almost at the end of the transfer though so, I'm not sure how much longer I will be in this area! President usually doesnt give us transfer news until the Saturday before the transfer too...lol! Elder Winborg and I are well though! We are still doing our best to learn new recipes to cook and what not since we just cook at the apartment now! Haha, it's getting pretty interesting! The market here is so cool too, I will have to send a video of us walking through it soon! Hope you are well though Mom and Dad! Looks like everyone is well! Send my love to Uncle Dave and Aunty Sandra! The pictures of the wedding looked great! Was good to see all the family! Send my love to them all! Have a wonderful week though! Love you's! Till next week! x Elder Fesolai So here's some pics from our adventures this week. Just to let you know, I forgot it was Australia day so, sorry to disappoint! So we just ended proselyting as normal on that day....ANYWAY!
A pic with some of the poly elders at the zone conference. Obediah and his Sister Juliet haha, crazies man! We had a baptism on Saturday! It was for Emmanuela, one of our Recent Convert's Daughter. Banku and some tomato, Okro soup! Couldnt remember the Ghanaian name for it! Haha this little chubby baby, His name is Unko. Cries when he sees us. We sang in the Choir for Ward conference on Sunday just gone so got a pic of us all! The dudes hand is kinda covering though...fail! Prince Eli and I, he's our ward clerk! After church we went to the beach to sus out the activity for today! |
